Brian Spencer

Brian Spencer is a Financial Advisor and a SmartVestor Pro. His mission is to serve others by helping them find financial confidence thru debt reduction, asset protection, savings, and investments using the gifts, abilities, and talents given by God.

Brian was born in 1968 in Galax, VA to great parents and one awesome brother. He attained Eagle Scout in 1985 and his son also attained the award in 2021. He attended Emory & Henry College and graduated in 1990 with a Bachelor’s in Business Management. His senior year of college he was able to intern at Wheat First Securities.

Brian started his own financial journey after college and soon became in debt by using credit cards and borrowing money to buy a car. Debt became an issue of stress in his life, and he worked up to four jobs at a time, trying to pay down debt. In 2005, while taking a Financial Peace University class at his church, he saw Dave Ramsey explain the Debt Snowball. After that class he told his wife, Lori, that he had done the debt snowball on his own and did not know about Dave Ramsey. He explained that he knew how the debt snowball worked because he had done it and became debt free before their marriage in 2000. Brian and Lori are currently in Baby Step 7 and although the journey to get to this Baby Step has not always been easy, it has been worth the effort and the hard work they both have put into their own financial journey.

His Dave Ramsey journey had begun. He became a Dave Ramsey Master Coach. The Master Coach focuses on Baby Steps 1 thru 3; although general knowledge about Baby Steps 4 thru 7 was also discussed. He became a Financial Advisor and has been given the opportunity to help past, current and future Ramsey Fans thru their personal financial journey.

Brian is a member and Deacon at New Beginnings Community Church. He is also a volunteer member of his local Rotary Club and is the Foundation Committee Chairman for the club. Brian has been married since 2000 and has three children. When he is not working, he enjoys hiking, golfing, reading, and spending time with his friends, beautiful wife and family.
